Sudbury Hall Wedding: Hannah and Joel

IN THE GROOM’S OWN WORDS

BEFORE THE WEDDING

How You Met:  We first met on a Waitrose management trainee course, then didn’t see each other again for a good 2 years, but then met up again by chance when I moved to Waitrose Lichfield, where we met through mutual friend John (who did reading at wedding)

How He Proposed: I put the ring in a Christmas cracker and pulled it with her with all her family present. Things didn’t go quite to plan however, as I won it!

WEDDING

The Bride Wore: A dress??!!

The Groom Wore: Plain black suit by Hugo Boss. Plain white shirt, black tie and patent snakeskin look shoes, also Boss.

Jewellery/Accessories: I had Links of London cufflinks and my watch on.

Ceremony Venue: Sudbury Hall

Wedding Theme/Style: Just black and white really. Only quirk I can think of is the shoe rule at Sudbury meaning all heels smaller than a postage stamp had to be removed to preserve the wood floor!

RECEPTION

Reception Venue: Marquee at Hannah’s Mum’s house – The Poplars at Hanbury.

First Dance Song: You Do Something To Me by Paul Weller

Cake:  This one I do know….. it was a 3 tier un-iced Victoria Sponge by Vintage & Cake

Colours: Black and white with a little bit of red

Unique Details: Would love a mention for the fireworks – they were done by Pyrotex Fireworx, who are based in Branston, Burton. We also had the cocktail flarers, chocolate fountain, casino and moroccan themed BBQ for evening food.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT

I have a few that I can’t choose between: How I felt when I saw Hannah coming down the aisle in her dress. The pride I felt of my little brother as he did his best man’s speech.

Seeing my new Father in Law dancing with his tie round his head to “Gino” – by Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Fireworks just capped the day off for me. A perfect end.

HONEYMOON

Place: Phuket, Thailand

WEDDING ADVICE FOR OTHERS PLANNING THEIR WEDDING:

Leave it to the wife!!!!!! For me it would be to start early, because the day just creeps up on you. Above all, enjoy it. Its your day and about you tow as a couple. Go with your tastes and don’t be tempted to do what you may think other people might want.

FAVOURITE WEDDING PHOTO AND WHY:

The photo of Hannah and I arm in arm with Hannah’s right arm in the air just as the sky fills with fireworks. The way you’ve captured the burst of colour in the split second it’s there is incredible, and just encapsulates us enjoying our day together.
